page 31- "I was lucky to have come to America years before the political upheaval in Iran. The Americans we encountered were kind, and curious, unafraid to ask questions and willing to listen." I think this is very true because even now people from other countries, especially in the middle east are treated very differently and probably worse then they were in the 70's.
page 34- "But almost every person who asked us a question asked with kindness. Questions were often fallowed by suggestions of places to visit in California." For me this related to children of the river, because Saundra's family was also asked a lot of questions about there country and culture.
And in our culture we think nothing of asking a question-whereas in other cultures people may see that as intrusive.
