Page 3 "I, too, had been sad at Farid's departure, but sorrow soon faded- not coincidentally, with the receipt of a package from him."
This quote made me think of the time when my brother had left us to join the Marines, and that even though my family and I were sad at first, once I got the first letter from him I was okay.
Page 7 "After spending an entire day in America, surrounded by Americans, I realized that my father's description of America had been correct. The bathrooms were clean and the people were very, very kind."
This line from the book just made me think on how America looks like to people from other countries. The things that they went through that day, like them getting lost and having someone bring them home, are just normal things people who have lived here there whole life's would not be surprised if happened are so prized and deeply appreciated to someone who has never been treated like that somewhere else.
